Luminata XXIV
Paper: Plike White 330 gsm

Luminata XXIV, 2007, copper / gold / silverpoint on Plike Paper, mounted on Stonehenge paper 30 X 22 ( 76.4 X 56.7 cm ) Plike Paper is a clay-coated paper that proved to be most suitable for the fine art of metal point drawing. The paper is quite unforgiving in that a mark made is a mark made, but the challenge of drawing original works in silverpoint, copper point and gold point, on this fine art paper is refreshing and rewarding. All three metals took to the paper with ease as Plike paper offered a smooth surface comparable to a finely sanded gesso ground of the more traditional method of preparing paper for metal point drawing. Left the oxidize, it took about two months for the copper to turn a yellow color, the silver turned a pale grey brown and gold stayed its original grey, a distinct feature of all metal point drawing.
