Advancing to Light by Do Mi Stauber

Do Mi Stauber
Advancing to Light
Paper: Stonehenge 250gsm White

I call my works 'intimate landscapes,' whether I am painting a rock formation, a living tree, or the wrinkles and planes of an animal's face. Following my pencil point down into subtle layers of texture opens a world of mystery, awe and stillness.

I am a professional colored pencil artist and art teacher. I have always used Stonehenge paper exclusively, and I recommend it to my students. My pieces celebrate the close-up textures of nature and use many layers of color. I love Stonehenge because its subtle tooth allows me to create my own textures, and because it can take so very many layers of pigment.

'Advancing to Light' (21"x29") won 2007 Best of Show at the Colored Pencil Society of America District Chapter 201 Annual Show.
