What tape is recommended for Stonehenge Aqua?
Stonehenge Aqua has significantly more internal and external sizing than Stonehenge. This additional sizing allows one to work the liquid on the surface of the paper so it doesn't absorb into the sheet as quickly. The composition of both Stonehenge and Stonehenge Aqua is 100% cotton. However, the Stonehenge Aqua is a soft watercolor paper. Due to this softness we suggest to use the Holbein SoftTape instead of masking tape.
What masking fluid is recommended for Stonehenge Aqua?
Here’s a video showing the brands that work best with Stonehenge Aqua. The results show Grumbracher Misket & Sennelier worked best.
We also recommend Holbein masking fluid which is not as thick and heavy as other masking fluids and use it very thinly.
One artist we work with suggests using a hair dryer to blow warm air across the surface when they are lightly rubbing it off with a rubber cement pickup.
The warm air releases the small amount away from the paper. this has to be done delicately because the paper is soft and does tend to come up if done to quickly.
How do I remove a sheet from a Stonehenge Aqua Block glued on 4 sides?
4 easy steps to remove your sheet from the block glued on 4 sides:
1. Wait for your artwork to dry completely
2. Locate the small section of non-glued paper (its about an inch wide on a long edge)
3. Slide a letter opener, palette knife or dull knife between your artwork and the block
4. Gently push through the glue. Keep going through all 4 sides to release the paper

3. Slide a letter opener, palette knife or dull knife under a loose edge of your artwork
4. Gently push through the glue to release the glued sides
