Working at Legion Paper

Working at Legion

Join a small team making a big impact in the world of fine art and specialty papers

Who We Are

At Legion Paper, we live and breathe creativity. Yes, we sell paper - but not the kind that stacks up in office supply closets. We specialize in fine art, photography, design, and luxury packaging papers that elevate creative work worldwide. Our papers are chosen by top artists, award-winning designers, and leading brands to bring their visions to life. From museum walls to high-end retail packaging, our products are everywhere - often in ways you don't even realize.

More Here Than Meets the Eye

If you've ever admired a striking piece of artwork in a museum, it was likely created on our paper. That distinctive portfolio piece with the texture you couldn't stop touching? Probably us. The elegant invitation that set the tone for a wedding? Our paper. Even the premium cosmetic or liquor packaging that caught your eye - chances are, Legion played a part. We don't just sell paper; we create the foundation for unforgettable experiences.

Job Summary

We're seeking a Head of Marketing who can turn vision into structure and ideas into results. This role combines strategy, creativity, and leadership — guiding Legion Paper's marketing direction across brand, digital, and customer channels. You'll elevate our reputation as the experts in fine art and specialty papers while building programs that educate, inspire, and drive growth. It's a hands-on leadership role for someone who's as comfortable crafting strategy as they are rolling up their sleeves to make it happen.

Primary Responsibilities

Brand Leadership & Strategic Direction

  • Develop and execute a unified strategy that elevates Legion and its owned brands—clearly defining what sets each apart while enhancing visibility, differentiation, and credibility across all channels.
  • Position Legion as the authoritative voice in fine-art and specialty papers through strategic content that educates and inspires. Lead development of thought leadership across blogs, social media, webinars, case studies, and wherever our expertise adds value.
  • Define and evolve Legion's master and sub-brands, from Legion's master brand to individual product lines, you'll create positioning strategies and visual identities that feel cohesive across every channel - web, social, packaging, and beyond. Clearly define what sets each brand apart while strengthening Legion's market leadership.
  • Partner with our branding agency to bring brand campaigns to life across digital and physical touchpoints. You'll be the strategic voice ensuring everything reflects the craftsmanship and quality that define Legion.
  • Build partnerships that strengthen both our partners' brands and ours. Work with suppliers, partners, and key customers to create co-marketing and educational initiatives that tell great stories and strengthen relationships.

Digital Strategy, Content & Innovation

  • Own Legion's digital presence from SEO and social to email, influencer collaborations, and paid media. You'll build a digital ecosystem where every platform works together to drive engagement and build brand awareness.
  • Turn data into better decisions. Manage our website, CRM, and analytics tools to understand what's working, optimize performance, and continuously improve our reach and ROI across channels.
  • Create content that actually connects. Lead development of posts, videos, emails, and blogs that inspire and inform our creative community. You'll maintain Legion's "approachable expert" voice while showcasing the artists and makers who bring our papers to life.
  • Stay curious about what's next. From AI tools to emerging content formats, you'll explore what's new, test what works, and bring the best ideas back to the team. We want someone who gets energized by learning and trying new things.
  • Drive innovation and experimentation by exploring new marketing channels, formats, and approaches. Foster a culture of continuous learning where the team tests, measures, and improves based on results.

Campaign & Sales Alignment

  • Bring new products to market with impact. Develop comprehensive launch playbooks that include go-to-market strategy, creative direction, channel plans, sales enablement, and success metrics - then ensure they're executed.
  • Create launch systems that work. Build repeatable processes that make it easier to coordinate influencer outreach, PR, retail partners, and educational content. You'll help establish frameworks that can scale as we grow.
  • Work closely with Sales and Business Development to ensure marketing directly supports lead generation, conversion, and revenue goals. Maintain regular communication through structured planning and informal collaboration.
  • Develop programs that make everyone's brand stronger. Create co-marketing initiatives with customers and partners, build sales tools that tell Legion's story well, and engage with key accounts to find opportunities for mutual success.
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of the market. Gather insights from customer feedback, competitive analysis, and industry trends - then translate what you're learning into strategies that help make smarter decisions.

Events, Trade Shows & Partnerships

  • Make Legion's presence memorable at industry events. Lead our trade show strategy from booth design to post-event follow-up, ensuring everything we create reflects the quality and creativity of our brand. You'll have real creative input on how we show up.
  • Connect events to business goals. Work with Sales to choose the right events, align on priorities, and make the most of every opportunity. You'll manage operations, budgets, and vendor relationships to make it all run smoothly.
  • Build community through artist collaborations and workshops. Plan events that bring designers, artists, and makers together - whether it's demos, educational sessions, or creative showcases. These moments strengthen relationships and remind people why they love working with Legion.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Make the most of what you have. In a small company, resourcefulness matters. You'll find creative ways to get work done - whether that's building systems, delegating smartly, or pulling in help from across departments. We value problem-solvers who figure things out.
  • Guide a lean, multi-talented team including a Digital Marketing Specialist, freelancers, and interns, balancing strategic direction with hands-on collaboration. You'll have the autonomy to set priorities, make decisions, and run with ideas.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Business Development, Product Development, and Operations. Break down silos, maintain open communication, and ensure marketing initiatives connect to real-world business needs.
  • Bring energy and ideas. We're looking for someone who gets excited about the work, stays curious, and makes the people around them better. Your enthusiasm will help shape the culture.

Performance Measurement & Strategic Leadership

  • Measure what matters. Set up frameworks before campaigns launch so you can track performance, learn what's working, and optimize as you go. Data helps us make smarter bets and prove marketing's impact on the business.
  • Turn insights into action. Use CRM, analytics, and visualization tools to spot patterns across campaigns and customer segments. Then share what you're learning with Marketing, Sales, and Product teams to inform better strategies.
  • Own the marketing budget. You'll manage allocation across brands and channels, evaluate ROI, and make calls about where to invest for maximum impact.
  • Be part of the leadership conversation. You'll have a voice at the table and real influence on how marketing connects to the broader business. Help shape where the company is headed.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 6+ years of progressive marketing experience, including brand leadership, digital strategy, and team management. You've built brands and driven measurable business results.
  • Digital fluency that goes beyond execution. You understand social media, web, CRM, email, SEO/SEM, and analytics well enough to set smart strategy, evaluate what's working, and lead effectively.
  • A data-informed approach. You set clear KPIs, measure performance, and let insights guide your decisions. You balance experience with evidence to know what works.
  • Real initiative and ownership. You're someone who sees what needs to happen and makes it happen. You spot opportunities, solve problems creatively, and keep things moving forward.
  • Strategic AND tactical capability. You can develop comprehensive marketing strategies and also roll up your sleeves to execute when needed. You balance vision with getting things done.
  • Excellent communication skills across formats - from executive presentations to creative briefs to cross-functional collaboration. You report proactively, follow through, and make collaboration easy.
  • Genuine curiosity about what's new. You explore emerging tools, follow trends, and bring ideas back to share with the team. Learning energizes you.
  • Budget management experience across multiple brands or product lines. You allocate resources strategically and can connect marketing investments to business outcomes.
  • Collaborative leadership style that thrives in small, high-impact teams and cross-functional environments. You build people up, celebrate wins, and create positive momentum.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred but not required for candidates with equivalent experience.

Nice-to-Haves
