Designers & Books Fair 2012

The first Designers & Books Fair is set to launch this weekend in New York City. Designers & Books Fair 2012 is a live New York City event at the intersection where design, architecture, and books meet.

The Fair Exhibition Hall will include approximately 35 design book publishers and booksellers displaying and selling the newest titles for the upcoming holiday season as well as important backlist titles. Special Fair discounts (up to 40%) will be available on many books. 

 

There will also be rare and out-of-print book dealers; demonstrations of book arts, including calligraphy, letterpress printing, and bookbinding; and book signings

  • Saturday, October 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Upcoming NYC Workshops

Reductive Woodcut

Learn how to achieve multiple colors in a woodblock image with perfect registration through reductive printing. This workshop will be an introduction to the technique of reduction woodblock printing on a Vandercook Press. Students will learn about the tools, materials, carving sequence and printing methods associated with the reductive process.

Intro to Letterpress: Business Cards & Stationery

Curious about letterpress printing but not sure where to start? Wondering if letterpress printing is up your alley? Get your feet wet in this series of introductory workshops. You will learn basic typesetting and press lock-up, ink mixing, and press mechanics. Come away with a new understanding of printing and a small edition of your own cards.

High Line Open Studios Chelsea 2012 - NYC

The artists of High Line Open Studios invite the public to step inside their private studios during the fall 2012 art season. Located in the heart of the West Chelsea Arts district visitors will have exclusive access to over 50 private artists' studios.

The self guided tour begins at the West Chelsea Arts Building on West 26th Street. Pick up the MAP and event information in the lobbies at 508 and 526 West 26th St. and begin your artists' studio tour.
