Here are some pics of Arlene working her magic today on Stonehenge during her demo at the Dick Blick Grand Opening this morning.
The festivities (and artist demos) continue at the Dick Blick NYC Grand Opening with the renowned colored pencil artist, Arlene Steinberg.
Join us on Monday, August 26 from 11:30-1:30 at the new Chelsea Dick Blick store (6th Avenue/20th Street).
Arlene will be demonstrating her award winning colored pencil techniques all on Stonehenge paper. At the end of the demo we'll be raffling off a bunch of Stonehenge pads.
For all you Manhattanites, join us this Thursday, August 22nd from 2-4pm at the NEW Dick Blick Store in Chelsea to experience first-hand why YUPO synthetic paper has become the hottest surface to paint on.
Artist Sandy Sandy takes you through some of her tips, tricks and techniques used to create her watercolor masterpieces.
Since 1996, Sandy has been a professional fine artist and up to January of 2009, has devoted her career to painting full time. A strong connection with animals and nature has been evident over the past years and through thousands of paintings. Her philosophy of spirit, who she is, and who she strives to become, is woven into her work. Having studied watercolor with many nationally known watercolor masters including those from the E.A.Whitney, Brandywine and New Hope Schools has given Sandy roots that are strong in the American Art Tradition.
We’ll also be raffling off a bunch of Yupo paper. We all look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here assembles artists' responses to the tragic loss of a cultural and intellectual hub in Baghdad that occurred on March 5, 2007, by a bomb explosion. Al-Mutanabbi Street had been the historic center of Baghdad bookselling, and the heart of the Baghdad literary community. This important and timely exhibition will be held in five New York City cultural venues. The Center for Book Arts is presenting the exhibition in collaboration with Alwan for the Arts, Columbia University Libraries, International Print Center New York, and Poets House.
The exhibition features approximately 250 artists' books and 50 prints by artists from around the world, and was co-organized by Beau Beausoleil, Founder of the Al-Mutanabbi Street Coalition, and Sarah Bodman, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Fine Print Research in Bristol, UK. A comprehensive catalogue accompanies the show.
