NY Public Radio Calendar by Vote for Letterpress

Five year old letterpress studio Vote for Letterpress, tasked with creating a calendar for New York Public Radio, hit this one out of the park with this intricate print on Coventry Rag.  In their words:

3-color split fountain? Check.

Intricately detailed illustration by Felix Sockwell? Check.
2,000 posters, printed one at a time on our hand-cranked Vandercook SP-20? Check mate.

This was one of the most challenging jobs we’ve printed. There’s a crazy amount of detail in this poster, and while tight registration of the colors wasn’t critical, it was still important to get it pretty close. Press preparation (called makeready) took 3 days alone before we were ready to print the black plate. Total press time probably neared 40 hours.

We're big fans of people who love paper and VFL has our vote.

New Ghost Perfume Gift Boxes made with Mirri Sparkle

Originating from a British fashion house, Ghost was created in 1985 by Tanya Sarne – an aspiring designer who possessed an indisputable eye for the changing demands in how women wanted to dress. Following her success, in 2000 the first signature fragrance was born; Ghost the Fragrance. Now, with a total of 9 fragrances in the collection – Ghost have released 5 30ml special gift sets in time for the 2014 Christmas period.

After purchasing a glittering handbag and remarking on its ‘sparkle’ effect, the team behind the design of the new Ghost gift boxes went to Falconer Print & Packaging for advice on sourcing a material to match the effects.

The high quality metallic film is laminated to a premium white backed folding box-board. The surface of the film is treatable with print, as well as other print finishing options, from foil blocking to screen processes, enabling customers to create extremely attractive and unique options.

As well as the new Mirri Sparkle, Falconer also used Mirri Pak Silver supplied as folding boxboard, printed in 5 different shades, to create the outer packaging.
